    Shall i buy?

Hi all.. I up until last week owned a impreza wrx which i killed goin too fast round a tigth bend Dohh!!!

I have been offered a '93 s2 for £2,200 the car is a little tatty, the red paintwork faded ect,but still looks a good car and has covered 181000 miles, and has been used daily.I have read some very good reviews about the car and they seem pretty rare, which is good.
can anyone give me some advice on what to look out for on the negative side?
As the car's not much money i dont expect a minter and this one looks good enough to restore without hurting my pocket.I've also been told even high mileage engines are bulletproof.
    Regards Rich

    Hi Rich,

Good choice in car. Also the price sounds ok considering the condition and millage.

Have a look on www.s2central.com - There is a buyer guide on there and this also shows what to look out for in an S2.

    Good luck with the purchase.

    Cheers.

Hi rich,as you say milage is not an issue,if reasonably maintained, nor is the paintwork. off all the colours red is the easyest to bring back to life in my exspireance

Good luck with it, if possible and can get some pictures it would help, never know someone on here might know of it, I recently bought mine and was surprised at how many people know of my car and the owner.

A word of warning, cheap cars *can* be costly to replace. If you go for new parts they are very expensive. If you are happy with secondhand parts etc and doing all the spannering, they can be restored on a budget.

All that said, when on song, they are bloody fantastic!

          Cheers,

          Steve.

Well i took the plunge and put a deposit on the S2 and hope to pick it up in a week or so.Like i say its a little tatty and pinky faded red at the moment also the it runs a little ruff and has a noise in 1st gear, but im sure even if i end up spending a few grand on restoring to its former glory, that i will have a very nice car indeed.

I will try take some pics and post em up,you never know someone might know its history!

Yeah either that or if you can get it some pictures. First thing to do tho once you have the car is get some better brakes if you plan on using it hard, then depending if its a 3b or aby engine a chip or homefries. You will enjoy the power/torque.

Ye i will take some pics at weekend, can't seem to get a good shot through the window.
I must say I am looking forward to the torque,,,oh and 3rd gear which goes for ever so i've read!
I was impressed with the power of the scooby but i regret not uprating the brakes,as does the wall i hit im sure so i wont be making that mistake again.
How do i tell a 3b from an aby?
