We had a bulletin about this new pedal car Audi are producing to mark the launch of the R8....
Marking the start of a new era…
... the legendary Auto Union racing car as a 1:2 scale model.
Scale model with the makings of a cult object.
The market launch of the new high-performance Audi R8 sports car marks the start of a new era in
the building of sports cars under the Audi brand. To mark this occasion, Audi is recalling the
company’s long motor racing tradition with a new, and in every respect, unusual scale model.
The car involved here is far more than just an extremely exclusive collector’s item, as it can also be
driven by “junior drivers” (up to a height of 1.35 m) like a pedal car. In every respect and down to
the last detail, it bears testimony to the outstanding properties of the Audi brand in terms of high
quality, precision and craftsmanship.

The legend lives on.
Sport constitutes a traditional component in the success story of the Audi brand. The Auto Union
Type C Grand Prix racing car celebrated its debut in motor racing some 70 years ago, when, during
the Tripoli Grand Prix, Achille Varzi clinched the first victory by an Auto Union Type C on 10 May
1936. This success was followed by the win by Bernd Rosemeyer in the German Grand Prix on 26
July 1936 at the Nürburgring.
All in all, the Auto Union racing cars won ten races in 1936, seven of which were achieved by Bernd
Rosemeyer alone, who also won both the European Championship and the German Hill Climb
Championship in the same year.
Design and technology.
The model is a 100 percent Audi design. The technology has been developed at the Audi
Toolmaking shop in close liaison with the designers from Audi Concept Design Munich. Special
features include the largely true-to-the-original proportions of the car in the scale 1:2 in addition to
the visual and perceptible quality of the craftsmanship down to the last detail.
The model can be used as a pedal car by children up to a maximum height of 1.35 m.

Detailed replicas of the original instruments from the pioneering age of motor racing

Selected materials and impressive craftsmanship in the Audi Type C cockpit

Chain drive for optimal power transmission; disc brakes for maximum security

Engineering for children: the design principles are sophistication, precision, quality and fun during play
It looks to be an amazing piece of work and the attention to detail is incredible.
The big question is can anyone guess what the recommended retail price is?
I'll post up the price later so you can see how close you get. Before anyone asks there isn't a prize for guessing correctly
