    S2 Avant Vs Urs4/6

Ok, I know some of these questions have been asked before and I have already been given the facts and figures (some of them) but I am after some answers to some practical questions and would really like to here peoples comments, especially from those of you that have owned both an S2 Avant and an UrS4/6 Avant. Here goes:

    1. As standard cars, off the mark is the Ur much slower than the S2 (I think the figures are 6.1 (S2) Vs 6.3 (Ur)). Does the Ur feel much slower because of increased weight etc.

    2. Is the fuel consumption much higher in a Ur due to the heavier weight over the S2?

    3. Does the UrS6 have the same AAN engine as the UrS4?

    4. What is the difference between the ABY and AAN with respect to tuning and modifying (especially homefries, manifolds and 1.8t coil packs)?

    5. How easy is it to modify the UrS6 with things like an exhaust (3" turbo back), wheels, better interior, better suspension etc

    6. What is the better car ro live with (if there is a difference)?

    7. Why are they cheaper? Is it the looks? To me, the UrS4/6 look a bit more street sleeper than the S2 (thats what I like).

    8. How do you debadge the car?

I am after some realworld answers for this stuff and I know you guys won't let me down. Just no bickering between the S2 and the Ur owners please!

    Cheers

A:mine is homefried and it keeps with the S2 no problem

    2. Is the fuel consumption much higher in a Ur due to the heavier weight over the S2?

    A:yes higher average 20 in the S4 and S2 22

    3. Does the UrS6 have the same AAN engine as the UrS4?

A: Yes AAN engine in both

    4. What is the difference between the ABY and AAN with respect to tuning and modifying (especially homefries and manifolds)?

A: Both the same apart from the inlet manifold in the AAN(better) and the inter-cooler in the S2 is better mounted

    5. How easy is it to modify the UrS6 with things like an exhaust (3" turbo back), wheels, better interior, better suspension etc

A: same as a S2 very easy to do

    6. What is the better car ro live with (if there is a difference)?

A: the S4 is much smoother on the road but the S2 feels more racer if you like

    7. Why are they cheaper? Is it the looks? To me, the UrS4/6 look a bit more street sleeper than the S2 (thats what I like).

A: S2 is icon car and been a coupe holds more value

    8. How do you debadge the car?

    A: Hairdryer and dental floss

I have both 3b coupe and s6 avant, both great cars. The s6 feels more powerful than the s2, the engine has more pull, but the exstra wieght means its a little slower, not a lot init though.

A direct comparison can only be applied to ABY S2's

The S2 is quicker and the map in the ecu is actually more aggressive than the map in the AAN ECU probably to compensate for the IM. Last bit is speculation

Not much in it performance wise, it is of course heavier than the S2 which is noticable to a degree. The UrS4 and S6 are basically the same car, bar a few minor details. I have heard that the UrS4 has a slightly firmer suspension set-up that the S6 though.

The main difference between the Ur saloon's are the brakes. The early UrS4 had UFO's, whereas the later UrS4's and all UrS6's had 'proper' normal brakes (HP2).

As for mpg, my S4 does around 23-26mpg average with mainly urban driving. I have got it up to just under 35mpg on a long 'grandad' cruise though! (It has a Nothelle re-map which may have an effect on this).

Mine has a Stromung 3" system from the turbo back, so no worries there.

As for the interior, it's spot on as standard I find, really supportive and comfortable. Hard to better, but of course it depends on what your after though.
Though in my opinion the dash is better than the S2's

It's best to imagine the UrS4/S6's as a slightly larger 4-door S2 really, that's basically what they are. Very similar tuning and mod options, though intercooler options are possibly more limited for the UrS4/S6.

            1. Not a lot in it, you would have to drive them back to back to really notice anything.

            2. Not sure, i can tell you our S4 is much better than my cq20v for fuel economy.

            3. Yes, engines are the same.

            4. AAN has the better intake manifold / shorter intake path. On the downside the stock Intercooler is pants so it suffers from heatsoak more. I believe this is why the ECU map is different, less aggressive ignition timing in the mid range. Having said that were currently running ours on an ABY homefry chip. Everything else is the same as an ABY.

            5. Plenty of aftermarket parts out there, suspension parts are easy to source and engine bits is the same story as S2's..

            6. I'd say the S4, nicer interior, more relaxed and refined. ...or maybe i'm just getting old. More dignified than a coffin carrier IMO
