A8, the world's best kept secret???

Just flicking through autotrader and found myself looking at A8's after seeing some of them at ADI the other weekend.

How much car do you get for your money!!!!

I'm assuming the V6's will struggle with a car of that size and so that means a V8 is the comfy, motorway mile option.
There are loads on there and all sub £5000!!!! The options are endless and the space inside is reminisent of a cathedral!

Just wanted to gauge people's opinions on a here, particularly with a high miler. I assume that running costs are painful but considering the initial saving then that might not be so bad!

    Thanks

    Dan

i've always been tempted too mate. even sub 3 grand gets you a double glazed quattro living room with an audi badge on it. It'd be a good family wagon for me but i'm not sure the missus could park one. When I find someone with one i'll see if she can get a spin and maybe think about getting my dirty mitts on one.

haha. yeah I saw that one too. I was very impressed that they had the good sense to leave the sound of the cars as the soundtrack instead of drowning it out with some loud bollcks

That's the joy of the A8. You can fit the wife, 2 kids, a pram, a picnic and nitros in it. You'll get 3mpg but fek it.

lovely cars. i would recomend driving a few before you buy one though, the s8 and the a8 are two very diffrent machines if you go for an a8 make sure its a sport model the recaro interior is much better than the standard one, i found the tiptronic a bit wierd to use kept forgetting what gear i was in!

drove a current S8 a while back, amazing machine and actually handles much more like a smaller car than its size suggests. Have to agree about the tiptronic though but if you forget it at least remembers and goes into automatic mode anyway.

Would love the older shape S8 myself, might even be tempted with one when we get rid of the a6 tdi.....unless a decent spec allroad comes along

I drove the A8 4.2TDI or is it the 4.0 ,any way which ever one it is they go like fook,
on start up it doesnt even sound like a derv burner and the build quality would put
any car to shame.,its a V8 diesel with over 400ft\Ib of torque and 30mpg ,i want it.
