Off on a tangent I know! But when were the first S2's registered in the UK. Mine was put on the road in December 1990. I'm sure there must be a few earlier examples.

The latest possible VIN for the S2 Coupe is 8B-T-003000 which places it to December 1995.

Upper half of the 2600 range here, first registered Feb '96.

Remember paul telling me mine was a late one when he did the homefry, all a bit academic now as they are all relatively the same age now. Only hope my little car starts to hold its value soon, they seem to be plumeting in price at the moment.

No - it means you are smoking something - LOL

Your car might have been registered in 1997 but the VIN will be nothing later than MY96 - unless you have an S2 with a 'V' in the VIN to denote 1997 that none of this forum has ever seen - or you are interpreting the VIN wrong - or its fishy.

Try the VIN decoder at S2central.net, and if you want to send me a PM with your VIN I can tell you what month it was built.

I think my n reg ones chassis number ended in 2402.
I think all the last ones had the black roof lining

only the 1996 models had the black roof lining, but also only if there is a black carpet in the car. my s2 MY 96 has the "white" roof lining, also the white carpet...

the last ever produced S2 stands in the museum in ingolstadt. the second last s2 is silver, and owned by a guy who owns 2 another 1996 S2 coupe...

Also the coupé was the longest built S2-Model.

can´t say something about the rhd s2 in your country, only something about the lhd.. i´m sorry...

Paul, I must have been "one of the late ones" you remember seeing, you fettled with my ECM around this time last year (March 07).

So does that mean that I have one of the latest ones? Car was first registered in Jan 96.
