I hope IU've got this right, offsets are always a bit of fun!

I'm running et35 with a 8j rim and 225s and it's about as tight as you want to go.

With the extra 12mm width you might want to go for ET30 to keep the inner rim edge in the same place as 8j ET35.

I personally think that ET40 is too much for 8.5j on an S2, some avant owners prefer to go for 5mm spacers on the rear to make the track a bit better, thus making the offset 5mm less.

Yep, Et 40 will be a bit tight in, ET 30 or ET 35 with 5mm spacers on the back would be spot on. HTH

I'm running 8X18 et35 on my avant with 225/40 tyres, and have literally a few mm clearance on the inside of the tyre against the upper arm and the outer edge of the wheel/tyre is dead level with the wheelarch. IMHO with a 8.5j et 40, i think by the time you have spaced out the rr wheels to clear the suspension arm you may find your wheels sticking out beyond the wheel arches. some like this look admittedly, but technically i think it's actually illegal (depends on the individual police/MOT tester man) and you may run into issues if lowering the suspension.

Although someone may come along shortly and tell me i'm talking utter bo****ks and prove me wrong

Think your about right there, afaik wheels have to be inside the line of the bodywork where its fitted/available.

Surly they do come in ET 35, but wouldn't go any higher though. Ideal would be ET 28-30 ish to get them look right without spacers.

Tried and tested is 8j ET35, I've got 2 sets and there are loads of people running something very close.

What style are you after? Post something up and I'm sure there will be a few ideas that you'll like.

                        How about stretching to 19's?

                        Strom ST01, 19x8.5 5x112 ET35 - I reckon these would look the bisnis on an S2.

Apparently they've just got in limited stocks at Designer Wheels. For a set in silver with 225/35/19 Falken FK452 tyres and Audi centre caps the package price is £1365 inc VAT... (ncts, just like the look!)

245 35 18 fit, I know of three others with the same.

With an 8.5" X 18 ET30 rim running a 225 40 tyre and being 30mm lower its quite likely that you will get some scrubbing on the front, especially when on lock over bumps. With an 8" rim you should just about get away with it at ET30 but don't hold me to that.
