    RHD SWB Quattro f/s

Now i really wish it wasn't the case of NCTS

Absolutely love to own one of these and in RHD spec even more so. Pricey but looks absolutely fantastic, just a shame it will spend most of its remaining days under cover rather than being driven hard as it should...

i agreeif i was to own one it would certainly have to be right hand drive..if it was a left hooker i wouldnt be able to drive it as it should be driven(very hard)

The only thing is if it is rhd it will always only ever be a replica, or (as in this case) a conversion. That spoils it for me, even if it is ultimately better for driving on the left.

i think i could live with a conversion from Mr Sutton, he has/had plenty of experience with the Quattro

Or for your £75k you could get a Dialynx replica for those occasions where you want to go for a thrash and get on original left hooker and have some small change left over.

Agreed the RHD bit de-values the car too much for me.

Were I looking for a sport, it would have to be the real deal LHD and one of the few (6 I think) original uk cars.

the right hand drive even if is a conversion makes worth more to me, also was done by a very competent set of people and since the ur quattro's and sports were hand build make no difference in build quality, if anything makes the car far more interesting from a collectors point of view surely...

Ahh hell - forget whether its LHD or RHD - thats the sort of money that used to buy two houses - only someone properly loaded is gonna have the wedge for it - and they could prolly care less if its LHD or RHD. Many quatties were converted to RHD by that company so I personally wouldn't be concerned... It makes the car less 'original' but at the same time much more usable in this part of the world...

Last I heard dialynx would ONLY do a shorty for track use and no more car one's. Dunno how hard it would be to convert it back to a road car. Think this is also mentioned on there website

yes thats what dialynx told me when i enquired about the swb(race only)
this is probably due to legal reasons...theoretically any vehicle which has had its monocoque or any chassis modifications altered in any way should have to be (1)sva tested(2)engineers report(3)registered on a q plate..thats the route when you build a kit car(most of the time)allthough if you retain more than 70 of the original parts you get it registered on a age related plate....i tryed buying a dialynx car from birmingham at the end of last year and the guy told me the car had 2 logbooks???(red hill climb car)

i seriously thought about selling my s2 for a lago blue dialynx shorty about 5years ago....was being sold for £14k with new aby engine tuned to rs2 spec and a sparco interior. It was only due to the fact i had been made redundant that i had to let it pass me by. Have seen it a couple of times since at ADI

when i built mine i contacted dvla regarding this same issue i was told it didn't need sva it didn't need engineers report and it dosen't need q plate because you are still using the original shell as long as you have mot which means it is road worthy thats all that matters
