Axle Stands?

This sounds like a total rookie question (which i guess it is) but where do you guys put axle stands under the car so as not to damage anything?

I have used the front subframe between the wishbone mounts previously but not sure if this would be ok if I had to leave it up for a few days.

I had my car mounted up on the subframes for a good week when i rebuilt the head, its strong enough.

Or the chassis rails behind the front wheels (if you ever need to take the subframe off, for example),
