So the Jersey based car is a ABY but it doesnt have the ABY Avus wheels like the New Zealand car?
I thought all ABY's were facelift with clear indicators and the projector headlights like in a RS2?
Cool- what a rare bus indeed. The hand-written 'ABY' is funny but a quick look at the other codes seems correct. The info I have is they were built from 02/93 to 07/94.
BUT - that chassis number dates the car to November 1992 - which is right around the time the 1st ABY Coupes would have starting rolling out. I wonder was it built as a demo or some production mix up. Very curious.
As for the manual rear windows - no worries on that as I don't believe electric rear windows were a standard fitment on any of the limos - it would have add to be specified as an option.
What is that thing worth I wonder - not that I am in the market - just curious ?
actually it was me that wrote the aby in,i have maintained this car for the doctor since 04,previous to then it was done at the dealership, every time i used to get parts they would ask for an engine code and being it was blank i added it in,regards nick
Turns out these S2 Limo's in Brunei are RHD as well... so they are really common after all. I cannot recall where the declared official number of 306 built came from - maybe that is a total production number and a very few territories did officially get them in RHD format. The one in Jersey is the nicest surprise though - it must be one of the earliest to have been built.
wow, proper rare indeed. If i was you I would get in contact with Audi Customer service and ask a few questions about it and get them to send it to you. Absolutely no idea what thats worth but as mentioned earlier in the thread don't let go of it (if you were considering it...) for silly money
Interesting that the S2 doesn't get the sport's rear spoiler, was that an option on the spec then I wonder ?
hi paul, thanks for all your help, today i managed to track down the sales manager at five oaks garage at the time my audi was sold, his name was on the handover document, johnathan leepingwell, really helpful guy,he said he remembered the car well,he said in 95 audi contacted them and said they had 2 pre production cars that had been sitting around at the factory for some time and did they fancy having a go at moving them, one was a convertible diesel, the other mine, johnathan pointed out it was a one off pre-production car,he knew the doctor that i bought it from and said audi should be able to confirm this,he even offered to write me a letter confirming the above,
