!.) The RS6 will cost you 4 - 5 times as much to run for a start.
2.) The RS6 will make the RS2 feel like a featherweight track special
3.) The RS6 may well continue to depreciate. The RS2 will start to go back up in value soon.

Would it really be that much more expensive to run?
I'm guessing day-to-day running won't have much in it, but maybe just parts and servicing will be different.
And what is the weight difference? I have an A6 tdi and it feels lighter than my avant.Audi S2 Avant, 1995, ...and it begins with a Homefry

Ta Jamo....
Costs Costs Costs & Costs....
RS6 Is Mental Money To Keep on the Road.... Mega Car Mind.... But So Are The Mega Bills...
New Front Disc's every 12 Months... Cheapest I found £450.00 a set...
Suspension Need Replacing as the OEM is one Crap... £2K + there...
Tiptronic Boxes do have issues too...
Small Service £250.00 Big Service £1200.00. Timing Belt & Service £2-3K..
Mine went in for an alternator at £1k when they finished it was £3.5K as the oil cooler and pipes also needed replacing cos they have used the wrong metal for the cooler so the union joints corrode and the whole lot needs replacing... 4 Year Old Car... I did get £2.5 Back from Audi But still....!!
Say No More....
Don't know what prices are like now but I bet the RS6 UR has fallen alot as there is now a newer version, which I dont think has sold that well Not a surprice at £70K +
If you can live with the above they are brilliant cars and theres not much that can match the performance for an estate car...

Blimey...they are big bills! Is that all Audi dealer prices so possibly cheaper from my friendly local GT500?
The thing is, if I get a car that's had most of the major work done, could i drive it a year and not end up cursing it?...I wouldn't be doing too much mileage.
How problematic are the auto boxes?Audi S2 Avant, 1995, ...and it begins with a Homefry

I don't own an RS2, but I have a good idea of the running costs and upkeep, and I did own a C5 RS6.
As said above, brakes aren't cheap - in addition to the discs, there are the pads of course and a full set of discs/pads all round will set you back between £1,200 and £1,500. Cambelt service is the big one and of course anything else that goes wrong is not going to be cheap - as well as twin turbos, there are 2 MAFs and 2 DVs.
Again, as pointed out above, the weak points on these cars are the auto 'box and the DRC. The DRC is easily fixed by replacing with coilovers, so look for one with that already replaced. The problem with the gearbox is that the Audi service schedule states it to be 'sealed for life' and the only 'fix' is preventative maintenance by having it serviced (filter and fluid change) regularly (about £300, so money well spent), but it's still a bit of a 'plug and pray' exercise as it's the torque that kills these 'boxes. So unless you're lucky enough to find one which has had a knowledgeable owner from new, and a sensible remap, then budget £5k for that...
That all said, the RS6 is undoubtedly one of the best cars I have ever owned - an amazing combination of comfort and performance, and not entirely all at the expense of handling - a very capable barge!
It's very difficult to compare to an RS2, which was the first RS, a real classic, the little added bit of Porsche, a reliable engine, strong turbo, and not far behind the '6 in the performance stakes
Price-wise, you can now pick up a '6 for around the same price as a '2, but after you've parted with the purchase price you're into a completely different league.
Petrol-wise, I struggled to average more than 18mpg in the RS6, whereas 22mpg is about the norm in our S2.

Have a drive of both and then decide...
I would love another RS6, as long as someone else picked up the service bills....
The Roar of that V8 is astounding and the power delivery is superb, The tiptronic box I loved and would die for one on the S2...
The only thing that would bother me is where will the prices of the 6 fall to??? And what about spares over the next few years???
The 2 I am sure will always keep its value and may increase...Comment

Totally agree with that.
and that!
It's great, to a point - which is the point at which it no longer does exactly what you want it to... if I had another one, I would put my maintenance fund towards a manual conversion
