    normall fuel consumption

What is the normall fuel consumption for a standard s2, mine is standard and when normall driving it does 8km on 1 litre.(18 miles on a gallon) I find it pretty much.

    thanks,

    Erik

Erik, that works out at 12.5 litres per 100kms (the usual way of expressing in metric ) which is about 22MPG ( miles per gallon ). I've seen long term road tests averaging 23.5MPG. There are threads on here with MPGs way worse than yours ( lead boot or engine issues ). I get 25-26 commuting, hard driving 20+. James

I get very similar on my s4 bus, on a long haul 28-29 sitting between 75 and 85mph, round own 24-26 and on a suatained back road blat 20-23, this is just going byt the onboard computer (however acurate that is?) Far better than when the water tem[ sender packed up.

When I do the calculation of 12.5ltr for 100km I come up with. (100/1.6)/(12.5/3.78)= +/- 19 miles per gallon. And this is for normall driving. I found this a lot, for a normall car. Can this maybe be occured by the MAF sensor

Give the Maf sensor a good clean using carburettor cleaner, do not use a brush on the maf wires as they are sensitive. Other things that cause poor fuel consumption are:
          blocked air filter
wrong engine oil ( too thick)
          tyre pressure too low
          poor spark plugs
size 13 feet ( 49 in euro sizes) just like mine!

Some problems you mentioned maybe on my car :

            - I think the wrong spark plugs
            - Paper filter (will be replaced by ITG filter)
            - I think dirty MAF sensor ( ordered IPA, to clean it)
            - the cold air feed connection, from the light to the light is not fitted (?)
            - I have 10w60 Krone oil, is ok I think
            - The tyre pressure is ok, I checked
            - Size 45, but not that heavy.

I already looked on my MAF, I dont seem to have the small grid on the end of the MAF (I believe to have the one near the Airfilter)

Is there a difference in gallons:

                1 US gallon = 3.7854118 liters

Yes, its one of the reasons why the US is no longer a UK colony.

I didnt knew that there is a difference in gallons . It would be a lot easier when everybody just uses ltr.

                    So new calculation

                    (100/1.6)/(12.5/4.54)= +/- 22.8miles Still much I think for a normal car

                      Spoken like a true European.

The British have pints as a measurment, they drink pints of beer.

The Germans have Litres as a measurement, they drink litres of lager.

The Dutch have litres as a measurment and they drink beer in .25 litres glasses.

Is that because dutch and Belgian beer is so strong?
The Americans have smaller pints than ours but that is so they don't have to drink so much Miller lite

Its easy ! - we use imperial gallons and America uses US gallons.

I would replace your lambda probe first.

these could well be contributing to your bad fuel consumption (if you think its bad)

wouldn't suspect its the paper air filter, as long as its a genuine filter and is clean it will be fine, check these out but more than any of those you should look at the lambda probe as said

pull the codes, lambda probes dont always show, but its well worth pulling them anyway

average 17 these days mostly town work. The two days I was out last weekend around the country saw 22.2 ave over 500 mniles. 18-22 sounds fairly normal tbh
