    Buying Parts From Europe/Germany

    Hi All,

I'm new here and have had my RS2 for about three weeks. Really enjoying the car, it's great and this forum has loads of helpful info.

I want a couple of C pillar trim pieces and have a price of £46 per side from my local Audi dealers. I looked on the VAGCAT website which is showing the parts for 28 Euros. I'm not sure if this is accurate or not, but if it is there's certainly a saving to be made for a little extra postage.

Does anyone know a friendly European/German genuine Audi parts seller I could get them from?

    Many thanks
    David

VAGcat is well out of day price wise. As a general rule I work on add 10% and then VAT on top.

David, welcome to the forum. I find German Ebay (ebay.de) is a good source of new and used parts and also suppliers in general. Need to watch shipping costs. If you contact them, many will be Ok with English.

                Thanks for the welcome

These are the parts I want:

                8A9853377B 03C LH C Pillar Cover (Rally Black) - £43.62 Each
                8A9853378B 03C RH C Pillar Cover (Rally Black) - £43.62 Each
                N 0161992 Pop rivets for above (x14 Required) - £0.35 Each (£4.90)

The trims are made from aluminium coated with that satin black plastic stuff. They look like that they're held on with 3 anodised black aluminium rivets per side, but the guy in the parts department seemed to think it needed 14!?

Mine have oxidised a bit at the bottom and has broken through the plastic covering. I'm sure most people would leave it, but the rest of the car is so nice, I think it justifies it.

Has anyone else changed them and can offer a bit of a fitting guide so I know what to expect?

ETKA shows that 14 of those rivets are needed in total, so that is what the parts man is reading.

Those prices you are quoting are full UK price with no discount. Have you tried Ben at Coventry TPS?

Okay so it may be that the trim only uses three per side after all.

I rang my local Audi garage, so that makes sense. Sorry, I don't know Ben ay TPS. I'm new here

Ben is aka s2avant here on s2forum. I get pretty much all my VAG parts from him. I don't know anyone that knows more about VAG parts than him.

Coventry TPS. Just ask for Big Ben.

I don't know where you are located, but I'm nowhere near any parts department. Luckily if a courier is arranged, Ben will happily box things up to be collected to be delivered to your door. Saves a drive to a parts department. It's about as close as you can get to the old Vag-Parts service.
