we use one for snowboarding, not got the motorsport kit yet, but will invest sometime for the suction cups etc. The picture quality is brilliant and wide angle lense means you never miss anything.
BS again in this video, because the camera is turned the wrong way around.
the only option is to make an external mic for the gopro hd, or buy a gopro hd 2.
Don´t try to be rude in someway but how can it be BS when the rumbling is gone in both videos? You don´t here the cracking noise you get without the micover or do I here something you dont? And the video with the Subaru they are using a GoPro HD 2 so that´s not the fix :mischeif:
Have done some track days with my S6 and Gopro camera and the rumbling noise is to noise and the videos is unwatchable... But with that fur piece I think i would be alot nicer sound... and yes the wind noise is still there but the rumbling noise is gone...
Here´s a vette doing ~150 km/h and it sounds good in my ears...
I've been looking into the wind issue. And I'm starting to come to the conclusion it is not wind noise we are hearing. Instead it is the input on the mic overloading. Not from direct windnoise but from reverberations of the airmass within the gopro case. By running the open backed case the noise is more windnoise and less distortion. One person has created an aerofoil assembly to help guide the air round the gopro case which appears to work very well from his video on a motorbike.
I'll have a little play later this week with various methods and see if I can find a solid solution that works based on some of the more techy info out there on the net.
That´s a good theory, because ive used the camera for over 2 years now and with the closed back it sounds better but almost all the engine sound is gone so a open (skeleton) backplate and the micover will help a little or something else that make the wind go around the case would do the trick. Will order the micover for a test and i can put up some videos with and without it in say 100km/h
If that dosent work i´ll figure something out.
1995 Audi S6 - AAN (~350hp)
2008 BMW 530xd (235hp)
2008 Hyundai i30 - 1.6 CRDI (89hp)
2011 KTM 990 SMR - custom tuned (120whp)
purchase a GoPro hd 2 and use an external mic. place the microphone anywhere on the car where there is less wind, for example the rear of the car.
I had GoPro HD but was so mad at it that I sold it again because of the bad sound and the useless display capable of displaying only 3 characters like an old clok radio
should be better on a camara for the price.
A friend of mine bought a GoPro HD 2 and the display is better you can actually understand the menu without ushing the user manual
microphone in
and video quality on the HD2 is better. same resolution but still better
Once I've figured out sound without the use of an external mic it will be the hd2 I'll invest in with the lcd backpack. That way easier to frame an image too without guesswork.

I have used the gopro with the micover and i find it totally useles, as at higher speeds you cant even hear the engine, just windnoise. It IS useless on cars.
If you want clean engine noise, the external mic is the only soltion.
But, it is your money, try and fail as i did
for me the problem is the "wind (or air)" knocking on the camera case, there fore nothing can be done to get rid of it. the external mic is the only logical solution.
Lol no offence taken been wheelspinning all day so launched from idle and bogged down. Also 150hp less and a good 600kg heavier so if he hadn't annihilated me I would've been shocked!
