    RS2 Alarm/immobiliser

    Hi Guys,

I'm getting grief from my insurance company. The RS2 has a factory fitted alarm and immobiliser, right? It beeps when I turn the key and the hazard light button flashes properly just like it says in the hand book.

The insurer says that the immobiliser is compulsory and want proof of fitting, I've explained it's factory fitted, but they won;t have it. How do I get this sorted if there's no paperwork. I hate having things cut into looms and I'm massively reluctant to have one fitted. It already has the best Tracker fitted to it anyway. What's the best thing to do?

    Many thanks
    David

I would have one fitted and send them the cert, the standard one will turn off if your lock is forced, its only a micro switch on the lock, you may have the best tracker fitted but how far away will they be before plod catch them and wot state will your pride & joy be in when they are stoped

Thanks for the feedback. Does everyone with an RS2 have this immobiliser enforced from their insurance on them? It's obviously never had one before.

I have to have one fitted on mine, which is an aftermarket one. Im not sure some companies count these OEM ones as thatcham approved now.

Never had it questioned on mine... I think i have an aftermarket one too with the alarm but can't find proof of fitting, sure I saw it when i bought the car, but just put the manufacturer fitted one down.
