      great pics

Don't know how Audi were so successful in this series cos I don't see any cable tie saddles anywhere?

I think they used a viscous coupling in the centre

At this time the Ferguson/Gleason type viscous clutches were available. Still think they did use solid center diffs like they did on works rallycars for quite some time for tarmac as well. Too bad Group B rally stopped back then, if not i dare to say we all had a controllable center diff in the S2 a la Nissan GT-r...

AFAIK all the 200's ran with 10VT engine, but still it would be strange to directly swap for the 25VT in the 90 without trying the 20V.

Indeed, sick amounts of caster on the TransAm models as well, not only the S1 suffered from the terrible understeer under lift-off and braking. Only proper way to make a McP strut work for these purposes, still used on latest spec Works rally cars.
Am i the only one noticing that the Zlatkov S1 replica corners like hell?? Only at the drum chicanes you'll notice the amount of caster by the huge tilting movement of the body. Supreme handling, i'd like to know what center diff they run, reckon it's of a non-balanced ratio such as 40/60 to make it turn like that.

They didn't put the 25v in the 90, they only put it in one 200, the Talladega,

I did say reputed! There is some discussion about whether it was 20 or 25V!
The info on that 25V says something about S6 and Nardo!
                  There were different 20V heads.

There is footage of what appears to be the Talladega car testing at Nardo which sort of makes sense.

If you look closely at these 3 pics you can see the twin fuel rails and distributor
that the 25 valve head used.

And the adjustable cam pulley! If they had left the cam cover on we would have had a definitive answer! The exhaust manifold looks fabricated on the 200 whilst it appears to be cast in the other pics. I think that bloke in the US bought an inlet and exhaust manifold and the exhaust was a cast one.
Just goes to show that in its day (as some of us already know) the 200 was The Daddy!

I think it may well not be cast on the show engine but filler and silver paint !
The inlet mani is also silver painted along with the turbo and other things, all just for

                              No, they are pure Gold
So they did have a cast one, they probably went with the tube exhaust mani for better flow just for the high speed run. The inlet in your pics kind of proves it had the 25v as it is the same inlet as in the shot of the 200 talledega engine bay.

It only proves they had 25V engines. As the inlet was modular, it could have just as easily had a two port inlet as three!
The bit that has always troubled me is why the info does not brag about it being the engine that powered the 200 to over 200MPH at Talladega or 340KPH at Nardo. You would have thought that Audi would have been proud of such an achievement. What with the S6 being two generations later, unless of course the project was designated as S6 in the 80's prior to the S car designations we are familiar with.
                                I so want to believe!
