I did some digging about UJ's and found out that a mk1 golf UJ is the same size and number of splines as a ur quattro rack.

I have just made a column with a universal UJ welded into it to bring the wheel down.

although the post is 10 years or even older I think I can tell something on that topic:

Audi made 3 200 nardo cars. They used for nardo the pre facelift 200 with straight wheel arches, can be seen around the one minute mark in this video:

one of those cars had yellow stripes on. this seems to be the only remaining car which was for auction shortly and sold for ca 400k€ as I was being told.
this very car has the first 25v prototype engine in which they built in ca. 1984.
note: the built another prototype 25v engine years later which is currently brought back to life in a red sportquattro. there are also some pictures somewhere in the net with black valve cover and large Audi rings on. my guess here: they maybe tried this for imsa or dtm, just because that was the time where the engine was made but the system didn't work again as it looked since imsa or dtm or whatever would've used this if it were better.

the other two nardo cars: One of them was the car which set the record, which was a 20v. not our 20v but also a kind of prototype one with similar angled valves based on the "original" block. Bore is something around 79mm and conrod length something like 137mm. stroke I think something around 85mm.
the last remaining car is I guess also a 20v, but I´m not sure which 20v.

the other thing is that they made the parts compatible for swapping and I guess in order for better comparability. so for example inlet mani was a two part design. exhaust mani was compatible on both heads, the 25v and the 20v.

-> The only talladega car was based on a Audi 5000, with those facelift more roundly shaped wheel arches, means the talladega 5000 / 200 is a totally different car compared to the nardo 200s.
the talladega also had the prototype 20v in it, which can be seen on various pictures. I assume they scrapped one of those earlier nardo cars and put the drivetrain in the 5000. this theory would fit to the only remaining nardo 25v. the other cars seem to be scrapped since none of them appeared on the surface in the last 20 years.

so basically nardo 200 is not talladega 200 although the only talladega 5000 had definitely the same kind of prototype 20v in it as one of the nardo 200s.

the story I was told some 15 years ago was that the 25valve was not that strong on top end like the 20v prototype engine. there are some pictures on the net which show the turbo on those engines was a kkk28, with huge compressor and huge turbine housing. So those engines were built just to have high end power. there are also pictures which indicate the same kind of block including pistons. there's a picture of a cut-model somewhere where it clearly can be seen they used the same pistons.

And they used this kind of preseries/prototype 20v engine also for a Biturbo k26 application in a sportquattro.

          Maybe someone's interested in that..

              That's some impressive detective work!
