The S6 Plus what a machine

I suppose the unobtanium status of this car in RHD has always intrigued me. Making one wouldn't be impossible but it would easily as expensive as converting an s2 to an rs2. However if anybody knows of a definitive list of parts that would be needed I'd be interested in pondering it.

This video popped up on youtube earlier

Is the suspension in this car original? It looks like it's been lowered and the way it bounces along on that bumpy road it doesn't look very composed.

Also what wheels are on it?

Personally I think both the C5 and C5 S6-s are not very good cars.

And the reason for that, is the D2 S8.

The D2 S8 has wider track, the weight is about the same due to the aluminum body, and it handles better.
More than that, it has more goodies on board, better sound deadening and so on.

So unless you need to have a dog in the back, I don't see the point. Just buy a D2 S8 and be happy

Dude what are you on about the s6 plus was a c4 chassis. Agree the D2 s8 is an awesome machine. But the rare s6 plus c4 was a rare awesome beast and one of the first cars to be fettled by quattro gmbh.

The only thing it has going for it, is the novelty/collectors status.
I am perfectly aware that the S6 Plus is a C4 chassis, that is why I said that I don't think the S6 Plus C4 nor the C5 S6 are very good cars (EDIT: It seems I mistyped C5 twice, I wanted to write C4 first).
If you want a V8, the S8 D2 is better in every way and costs about the same.

Let me just put it this way - it may sound cool, but when you are in one, you realize it's just a V8 stuffed into a random C4 shitbox, and all the novelty wears off on you.
Good to have in your garage as a collectors car, but rubbish at everything else compared to the S8.

I like it. Would have to be blue for me, though in saloon form like Prj I'd take the S8.

Another c4 shitbox....you having a laugh or what...The c4 is an awesome chassis once sorted and a very special car to own in s form. I have owned my c4 s6 shitbox for 15 years, and have had other audi quattro cars along side her, and i still think its special. The s8 was a good car but huge and it came with a slush box only in the uk..germany got a manual. The s6plus obviously came in manual and was an awesome car.

I am partly having a laugh, partly I don't think the C4 is anything special.
I've had a C4 S6 - fixed all the niggles to it and had it up to 400hp, then sold it.

Exactly, the S8 came with the manual box in the rest of the world, and I don't see how the UK is important in this case, because the S6 Plus was never even made in RHD afaik.
As for huge - re-read what I wrote about handling. The so called "huge" S8 not only weighs less (1750 kg for the S8 vs 1780 kg for the S6 Avant), but it also has a more sophisticated suspension and wider axle track, which results in superior handling, not to mention it is quicker (5.5 sec 0-100 for the pre-facelift S8 vs. 5.7 sec for the S6 Plus).

Really, after you drive both cars you will see what I mean

I have driven both cars, and yes the s8 blew me away. It does not feel as big a car when you are in it driving. I nearly bought one at one point many years ago. Just felt i had to stick up for the old c4 cars. With a bit of fettling they can be made into quite capable machines.

Point taken, and as I said, as a collectors car the S6 Plus is a lot more rare and valuable than the S8, but if you think purely mathematically then the S6 Plus does not make much sense compared to the S8

                          Weight is about the same.
The V8 engine is aluminum and AAN is iron.

And if I am honest, I would prefer C4 sedan with 2.2T and some bilstein shocks.
The avant is just too heavy, too much body roll, too soft.

Perhaps the RS4 has spoiled me, but I like the D2 S8 6-speed much more also if it has to be a V8.

I had an S8 D2. This is an awesome car but only with manual transmission. The auto transmission is weak an makes the car slower.
The motor is almost the same as S6+.
