RHD RS2 register? Who would like to help?

I would like to make a right hand drive RS2 register, has anyone else tried? Or would anyone else like to help? Someone in the northern hemisphere maybe?

I'd also like to get to the bottom of how many RHD RS2's were actually built. The UK media stated 180 cars for the UK market, but this has seemed to have evolved over time to be the total world wide RHD production number.

So if anyone would like to help please PM me, or recommend some that might be interested.

OK, so I want to try and revive this thread.

Here in New Zealand we had 12 RS2 sold new, plus one new parallel import from the UK. We also got a RHD Guards Red RS2 that was imported but Audi NZ secondhand from Porsche Germany. This car was meant to be an evaluation vehicle.

Specs of the NZ new cars are:

- No side indicators
- High stop brake light in rear window
- Roof racks
- Blaupunkt stereos
- Leaded Fuel only sticker on fuel flap (at the time RS2's were released we only had unleaded 91 and leaded 96)


A South African forum member told me 12 RS2's were sold in SA.

Specs of the SA new cars are:

- No side indicators
- No roof bars
- Only leather seats and carbon trim.
- Sun Roof standard,
- Alpine radio + CD shuttle
- Engine detuned as they only had 93 RON fuel, 225KW motor instead of 232 KW.

A UK 180 figures according to the UK media back in the day stated 180 UK cars.

As far as I know, all the UK cars came with roof rails, maybe a non cost option to delete them. Sunroofs came standard, I think Scillyisles car was optioned without, but I remember another thread where he said it took some negotiation. I'm sure he'll chime in as he's had the car from new. They also came with a Sony CD head unit and CD boot changer, but I've been told these were dealer fit?

2. Sunroof was a delete option through negotiation with Audi. Mine was built without sunroof for me and I thought it was the only one but I have seen another Ragussa Green UK car without sunroof.
3. UK cars were only available in a limited range of colours not the full range as LHD cars were. (although there is a UK RHD Pearl White one) Side indicators were standard. Air con was standard but no option for climate as per LHD cars. Interiors were either anthracite Napa leather or leather with alcantara (grey or blue). Carbon fibre trim was standard and you could not order the walnut wood interior option which LHD cars could.
3. GlynG60 on RS246 (some years ago) tried to construct a UK RHD register.
4. I believe there were 186 UK RHD cars produced not 180.
5. UK cars car did indeed come with a Sony head unit with an optional CD boot changer (6 or 10 cd) and yes these were dealer fit items.
6. All UK cars have catalytic converters and will run on 95RON but produce maximum power on 98 RON.

Thanks for that. My RS2 and my friends RS2 (cars are numerical VIN numbers) are both without sunroofs.

Pretty much correct for SA spec, my RS2 had the Blaupunkt raido/cassette.
I cannot verify, but understand that only 19 came to SA.
I have seen 1 RS2 with roof rails in SA

Wow there wowow !!!

Is not at least one of those cars a UK RHD car that was privately exported !

There is a danger of double counting here, we need to know if the cars being reported are country specific or imports and if so, what is the country of origin ?

I think the best way to avoid this is to record the VIN number.

Has anybody tried asking Audi or Porsche

I know Porsche are fanatical about keeping records.... I once had a 911 that was rebuilt by the factory in Germany and they were able to tell me not only what was replaced, but also the date it was replaced, even down to the engine oil !!!

Note that Porsche refers to the RS2 sole as an Audi.....
