Great skills. I wonder what suspension setup he uses as it just soaked up those jumps like it was nothingComment

S2 Rallye article from 1993 Audi Magazine
This is from the summer of 1993. Frank Sprongl's S2 rallye car in the videos was quite unique in Canada given the S2 was never imported here (we only got 7A CQs in 1990 and 1991).

Ah yes. The Sprongls. That takes me back. I think I still have some footage on VHS somewhere.
When I watched them in the late '90s I remember hearing the noise, thinking I hadn't heard that since Group B in the '80s.
I am pretty sure I owe my S2 ownership in part to the Sprongls.SSComment

There is a tech sheet for it on rally racing news, no idea on accuracy though, 10v seems odd?

As I suggested, since we didn't get any S2s in Canada, the Sprongl's car is pretty well a one-off. My guess would be that it started life as a 7A CQ and built into the rallye car using bits from earlier quattro rallye cars, including the all aluminum dry sump 2.1 turbo 10V engine that it sported. There is a tech sheet for it on rally racing news, no idea on accuracy though, 10v seems odd?

I have asked Martin P (rallyquatrro) to correct me if I am wrong on the above. If anyone knows about the Sprongl's "S2" besides the Sprongls, it will be Martin.Last edited by UrS4boy; 22 April 2013, 22:08.RS2'd 93 UrS4 5 spd sedan

Essentially correct, Coupe Quattro with complete A2 drivetrain including alloy 10vt (Lehmann built) etc etc.As I suggested, since we didn't get any S2s in Canada, the Sprongl's car is pretty well a one-off. Back in those days Audi was still sponsoring them and to uphold the image they used a body from a newer car to keep up with the times (early 90s).
I have bunch of pics from couple of events if anyone is interested.
