Some Roland Mayer (Herr MTM) History

I was only aware of some of this. I didn't know about the Abt connection (from the February 1995 issue of Performance & Style Magazine)

Word for word the same as the MTM website, must been quoted from the same article

In spite of all his achievements, he should still be shot for the use of 3 spokes.

I believe this to be incorrect, it must be the other way around:

      Wheels 265/35 ZR 17 front
      235/40 ZR 17 back
on 10''-rims front and 8''-rims back

I think the link is writer Ian Kuah (see attached). Talk about getting mileage out of the same words. Now that I see these articles, I realize that I have seen and read his story before (I guess I forgot the Abt part).

Why would they have made the rear larger, the idea was to add grip on the front to reduce understeer.

But I remember the early '90s, and there were a lot of people that thought 3 spoke wheels were cool then. Although I must say I always thought they looked ****.
I remember seeing 3 spokes on anything from Minis to Ford Granadas.
Ford even fitted 3 spoke wheels to the Fiesta RS Turbo.

It's a bit like these old UK celebs getting busted by Operation Yewtree. Yes. It's a crime, but back in the day it was kind of the norm.

I am tempted to keep my DTM style tail pipes, because they were cool back in the day. Before people started fitting them to everything and anything.

I would like a similar setup on my S2, but I guess you would need a very low ET to be able to clear the arms right? 245 fronts and 225 rear would be pretty good I'd say

The RSR always fascinated me, a rare beast..

Did MTM actually make any customer cars? I have never seen or heard mention of one before.

So would they just take a customer's normal S2 and MTM it all over for a price?

I think so yes. They offered it as a conversion on a standard factory car from new IIRC

Just think if anyone had ever had that done to their S2, and it's sitting inside a garage somewhere abandoned, that thing would be worth it's weight in gold

Maybe someone in Germany knows any more about them? I have only ever seen the red MTM demo car from the magazines etc

I would guess it is still with MTM, especially so if it is the only one
