Got an RS2 now the work starts

    Bought a lovely RS2 after years in TVRs and Lancia integrales and it is such a sleeper i'm really chuffed. However it is in need of a little love and as they a so rare it has raised 2 big questions;
    * which, if any, Haynes type manual covers the basic car?
    * where do you guys buy the bits?

Immediately I need to replace some of the fuel tank metal cradles and the gear lever.

    Thanks

    Martyn

Welcome to the forum Martyn and congratulations on becoming an RS2 owner.

Manual wise your a bit stuck, I don't know of anything that covers the RS2, the factory Bentley manuals are very good but there isn't one for the RS2 or even anything close. Perhaps one of the other RS2 owners on here may have a suggestion .

Parts can be hard to get with some items being NLA, however Audi tradition have started to reproduce some of the RS2 specific stuff. TPS are very good for general parts but you need to set up an account and technically be in the trade to use them. If you do all the work on the car yourself it may be worth setting up an account with them under a fictitious trader name, ie 'Martyn Audiman motors', it doesn't need to be anything fancy. GSF and Eurocarparts are OK for some stuff and Pete at quattro corner can help with a lot of parts.

As negative as the above answers may sound don't worry as you've found the right place, the knowledge on here is better than any manual and if you need advice on the best place to source a part someone here will know.

This is as close as you get from Haynes

If you want a direct replacement gearlever, it'll be dealer or possibley quattro corner.

Which one did you buy? Got any pictures yet?

If you google "Audi 80 manual" you should find sources of pdfs that are downloadable (just pick the correct years, i.e. 1994-96) If you then google "ADU engine manual", you should find a supplement that covers the RS2's ADU engine.

        Congrats and good luck.

          Here's a link to the RS2 workshop manual: http://www.s2-audi.co.uk/workshop/rs2/rs2.pdf

There's more helpful stuff on Mike's site: http://www.s2-audi.co.uk/

s2central.net has a lot of useful info and here of course.

Thanks and I'll post pics as soon as I get it in the air and start work.

I have to say the car is amazing and I'm surprised they aren't more sought after! It was a toss up between this and a 993 but there is no comparison. The RS2 beats it in all aspects including price. The only 4 seater car I have had that was faster was my 996 Turbo but it was only a matter of time before the engine goes bang.

as said you are in the right place for any info on these stunning Audi's and the Rs2 is the daddy of them all pre 1999 then they say it's the Rs4 boy racer car also a stunning Audi.
