    Hi

    One xtra question
Your quattro is it a v6?
If so going to have to weld brackets to chassis rails to take engine mountings or make specail engine brackets to to use excisting brackets

    Cheers

Looks like this is the way to go then .. Bang for buck it's going to be the best route realistically isn't it ..

aeb from a4/passat/a6 as its already the right way around and its got a throttle cable rather than drive by wire

If I was to go ahead I would be doing it with two of my close friends. Both of which have done countless engine conversions, in your honest opinion which is the better 1.8t lump to have ? I know there are loads of different ones, not including the BAM and things of the sort. I'm sure you guys will help via the forum etc .. This has been the most appealing idea so far. Cost wise ...

If your gonna do this with a 1.8t lump just buy yourself a written off a4 or something with the engine, loom, Ecuador etc all together then you have everything you will need and know they are all compatible and stuff. Even better if you buy one you can drive so you know it all works fine. An a4 1.8t can be picked up for peanuts in comparison to buying the items separately. Then you get to sell or weigh in the rest of the car and get a small return plus all the goodies you need for yourself.

all depends if youve done this sort of thing before. doable in a day or 2 if you have everything at hand and get stuck in. or could take a year of saturdays lol
engine even if you bought seperate say £350 including loom
    ebay cast manifold £80
    used garret t28 £100
    downpipe/exhaust £??
    capable injectors £50
    intercooler £50
    mounts £100?
    better fuelpump £100
4 cylinder radiator and pipes etc £30ish

bound to be more but thats the jist of it. obviously if your paying someone to do everything its gonna get expensive

i hate wiring but once you get stuck in with the loom its not to bad at all, although i removed the big lump of ***** attached to the 1.8t loom as standard lol which makes extra work but looks better in the end. and an unlocked ecu means no immo to deal with

i've done a 90q originally 10v and it literally bolted onto the box using the a4 clutch and flywheel. downpipe had to be made anyway for different turbo, passenger mount fit straight on from another 4 cylinder model and modified a a6 drivers side. although cab 1.8 mounts are said to fit straight on.. and today i done this to a fwd 80 lol

cost wise, buy a full a4/a6/passat cheap and sell what you don't need to recover costs. my first a4 cost £350 with full leather, sold it all minus leather and engine and made money. the last passat 1.8t i bought was 150...
so fairly cheap compared to the 5 cylinder.

I have considered this, but how hard are they to stick in ? How much fabricating ? And if I was still wanting to keep the Quattro set up as is, what box would fit etc ? And how much ?
