if you look really closely, they've got semi-permanent cable running up the black rubber to them as well...? still no idea what they are though.

Not a standard item.. .first one I see with something like that and I have TON of Sport pictures.
Not even sure what it does.

They are aerials for the Sony unit on the dash. They have flexible aerials on them that can be positioned upward. I have only ever seen them on Japanese imports before.
