0-100 km/h - 5.5s
0-200 km/h - 22.2s
So that means 16.7 s from 100 km/h to 200 km/h ? How can that be, that seems too much time? -
Acceleration as a result of horsepower.
Unfortunately, the laws of physics says that that could be correct. You can only accelerate in a vehicle if there is more horsepower available than that need to over come mechanical friction and aerodynamic drag. Since drag increases at a rate of the CUBE of the velocity, and horsepower starts to decrease at some point the in the RPM curve, the extra hp available to cause acceleration becomes smaller and smaller. As a result, the last few kph's happen very slowly (relative to the first ones). I hope this sketch that I did a while back will help:
The world record (250.009) for sedan is (was) held by an UrS4 with 1093 hp. A stock 227 hp C4 UrS4/S6 could do 150 mph. Based on the cube rule, the power needed to go 250 mph in a C4 UrS-car is 227*(250/150)^3 = 1050 hp. (roughly). Numbers matched very nicely.
