    Two Coupes

A pic I took earlier today of my two Coupes.

I have had the S2 for 4 years now, the 20v I bought in Feb as my daily driver.

It wasn't in the best of condition having been stood for 2 years, but it now has MoT and will be in daily use once I have changed the cambelt.

It's done 135K and is nautic blue with blue leather and sunroof.

I'm the third owner but there is little history since 1994 hence the cambelt change.

The wheels don't suit the car although they have been on since 1994. Audi refused to fit another set of Speedlines as the previous 3 had corroded so they gave the then owner a choice and he chose the Wolfrace Sport Rader ones now fitted.

I have bought a set of 5 Speedlines and refurbed them ready to fit.

I will post some then and now pics when I have time.

    Cheers,

    Martin

They both look very very nice!!! More photos please. When I bought my S2 15 years ago I kept hold of my CQ 20v for 6 months one of my biggest ever regrets selling her totally different machine to the S2 but still very nice

And some pics of how she was.

Both wings rotted through, now replaced.

Seats, dash, headlining covered in mildew

See the condensation / water running down the INSIDE of the windows !

Footwells full of water, front and rear.

            Front and rear brakes jammed.

Had been stood outside for 2 years unused.

Congrats on saving the 20V 7A coupe. It looks great.

                A couple of questions:

                1. How did you get the mold/mildew off the leather (and treat it so it wouldn't come back soon)?

                2. Not having owned a coupe but knowing about the hatch leakage issue, based on this photo, I can see that water runs down the side channels and then presumably out the bottom. However, I can't see how it gets out of the bottom channel and suspect that if the drainage channel (port?) gets clogged water dams up and then spills over into the inside of the boot. Am I close?

                  Hi,

Thanks for your kind comments about the car, it's certainly been a labour of love that's for sure !

                  Regarding your questions,

For the leather, I first wiped it over with a damp cloth rinsed in a mild soap solution and then wiped over with a damp cloth rinsed in clean water.

Next I used an industrial leather cleaner given to me by a friend years ago and used a very soft nail brush to work into the creases.

Rinsed that off and dried the leather with a soft cloth.

When dry I then used Autoglym leather cream to restore the finish.

No sign of the mould returning but it's early days yet !

For the drainage, I'm not sure really.

I have never had water leaking past the boot seal at the bottom, it's always leaked past the light clusters, or past the seal at the top, dripping water onto the back seat.

I noticed there are 3 drain holes (I assume that's what they are) in the black plastic boot lip which must be for drainage but I must admit I have never checked them.

If they did become blocked, I could imagine you may possibly get a breach of the boot seal as you described.

                  Cheers,

                  Martin
