OK Cheers everyone. By a process of elimination, it seems that it probably isn't something major - I'll have a closer look and see if it is something loose. The engine sounded smooth apart from that and there was no smoke from the turbo. It could be coming from lower down and just sounds like it is coming from there when viewing from top down.

Chris, Same with mine! New dizzy rattles just like the old one did..It was silent for a while then cam back...Originally posted by Chris MI get a rattle from that area on mine but mine is a 3B so i put it down to the dizzy, even though it had a new dizzy on 6 months before i bought it!! I've got a different inlet cam to replace it with and one of those ebay special dizzy gears too so i'll see how i get on once that is all fitted.

A rattle from up there could just be something vibrating against the strut brace also.
Or a jubilee clip thats down there rattling against something perhapsAnt

Having suffered the 'rattle from hell' after getting the RS2. I would say from your description that a loose clip or heatshield are the likely culprits.
However noise is subjective and a second opinion is useful. It could be the owner while you look about/under.Alastair
