how much is a 20VT motor worth?

well, i went to a local shop to get some parts for my buddy's car and get some prices for parts i need for my 7a. got to talking with the owner and saw an S4 on the lift. he mentions to me that the owner of the S4 has a spare motor...for sale....complete.

i had not even considered this when starting my project because i "knew" it'd cost about $5000 just to get the motor. apparently that's not the case. waiting to get specifics back (dunno wether it 3b or aan etc...) but what can this thing be worth? assuming of course in decent condition and i won't have to pull it apart in 3 years.

by the way, if any one here is in the ottawa area, stay away from Advanced Autowerks....they're the evil geniuses behind this dilemma!!!!!!!

make sure all the breather hose's are intact their expensive to replace so you could use that to chip the price down

3B's and AANs have been going for $2500-4500 (USD), depending on what went with them (wire harness, turbo, intercooler, etc.).

well, it looks like i'm coming back from the brink of financial disaster haven't been able to get in contact with the seller for a price and it looks like i can get the parts i need for about $750.....not much of a contest really. it woulda been nice but my winter car woulda been faster then my summer car of course, i coulda tossed a turbo at that car too but then i'd probably have to sell my house to pay for insurance!!!

oh well, the plan has always been keep it for a few more years, sell it before it crumbles (not likely to do so given the quality of the materials) and save up for the S4
