Hi all.
http://www.mbxit.com/products/bristle-blaster-c-6.html
These bits of kit look really interesting as they claim to offer a cleaned metal surface equivalent to blast cleaning yet have less of the downfalls with regards to needing compressors, bags of grit, enclosures, collateral mess etc.
They are also fairly expensive and a significant outlay to swallow.
I've used wire wheels in angle grinders before to some degree of success but they spin at higher speeds and melt their way through underseal and cause serious vibration. I'm also putting prolonged use of wire wheel down to a temporary arthritic type complaint in one hand
Wire wheels cost circa £6-8. New wheels for the mbx kit cost circa £20 which makes consumable costs something to bear in mind.
I was wondering if anyone has one or was able to borrow one, if so what did you think? Was the surface clean enough to paint as claimed?
I've got wheel arch / underside of car to restore and with the car parked up in a garage on stands, it rules out blast cleaning and I don't want to aggravate the pain in my hand either. The mbx kit makes mention of a 'sprung' effect for the belts which sound like they may be more comfortable to use.
The success of any painting is in the prep
