I recently acquired a pair of Recaro seats. They were in Charlie's (Cardcrash) RS2 which was sadly written off after it rolled. The passenger seat is in very good order and cleaned up nicely. However, the drivers seat is badly bent in the base, back and runner. The leather did somehow escape unscathed.
I stripped everything down to assess what could be 're used. After much head scratching, I decided the base and back were beyond repair. Recaro seats are welded and riveted together which makes disassembled more difficult. The reclining mechanism in the back was completely mangled and the base so bent, not even Urigella would be able to fix it .
And ad here didn't turn up spare parts.
I noticed an advert on eBay for wanted any Recaro seats. Dropped the guy a line and he was very helpful. No RS2 or Cabbie Recaros, but he did have a Ford base and back that should work. They were duly purchased.
On arrival, a quick inspection revealed that they would need some considerable work to convert. The side bolster supports are smaller, the base bolster supports are different and the back adjustment mechanism is different. They will work with a little cutting, welding and head scratching
