        Leather is
”Royal RT2 Protect” colour Elba, supplied by UKHide from Hans Reinke - Germany.
It’s marine grade, not automotive. You would cover yacht seats on deck with this…

That should last forever in that case, I have to ask are you an upholsterer?

Hello K Simmonds, I'm not an upholsterer. I do have a hobby background in tailoring and leather-craft. This is the first time I've applied this to automotive though...

Superb work. Can I ask why you are hand stitching the panels together rather than using a sewing machine? I take it you are using a machine to create the stitching holes?

Hi Nuvo, Thanks! More to come…but updates will slow down when I’ve posted up to real time…

I’m long practiced in hand stitching leather and it’s personal preference for the quality. It’s a natural material and I can achieve better results when I can see and feel what I’m doing inch by inch. I hand measure, align and pre-perforate with a stitching chisel. Hand saddlestitch is also superior to machine chainstitch for both tension balance and strength. Hobby background is from handbags/leathergoods, not industrial. One hidden advantage of hand stitching is that you see any mistakes approaching before you’ve made them. You can write off cuts very quickly with a machine. I’m working with high end leather.

Time is not a factor. I enjoy the hobby for being the exact opposite of mass production.

Well your're very practiced the finish is excellent.

Would you consider sewing a replacement peice of leather into my C4's drivers seat upper inside bolster if I was to removed the cover and send it to you along with the required funds to cover the work and return postage? It currently has a 2" round hole in it so it can still be used to make an accurate template.

I know there are places that offer such a service, but it's nice to be able to genuine photo's of the standard of work first.
