  • Rats??

    Hi guys,

Just been outside with the dog and he went nuts by the shed lean too..... So I went for a peak, something has dug under the shed between the slabs pushing the sand and stones out from under it.
A few knaw marks ont eh old dog bed but that is all, no signs of droppings.....

Any ideas on how to flush this animal out whatever it is. And I don't want to get bitten by the way

    you require

1 smoke bomb (maybe 2, 3 if you find it fun)
    1 shovel
    patience

chuck the smoke bomb in. leave the door ajar. get ready with the shovel.

            STOP

Dogs tend not to go nuts with rats but are guaranteed to go loopy wuth hedgehogs. So it might be hedgehogs hibernating.

Have to do a certain amount of vermin control at some of my work places. If you see a small hole, like a miniture rabbit burrow, its probably a rat, anything larger more likely a rabbit. If its a big blooming great excavation,I would say badger or fox.Hedgehogs aren't great diggers, tend to find somewhere dry and dark to hibernate.
If you think it may be a rat you can always go out and buy some rat bait, just make sure your dog can't get to it.leave the bait in a little dish if you think its a rat near any sign of activity.

22 air rifle (silenced) anything more powerfull and the rounds go for miles, bright torch and a thermos of soup (thats for you).

Happy hunting, oh and you should only shoot what you're willing to eat!

you could use poison or traps but where the fun in that? You'll probably just kill something nice and fluffy instead.

you want a ghillie suit and a decent air rifle - hollow point pellets will make a good start on a rat, your dog can probably finish it off if its a big one, but the butt of the rifly will also work nicely
