£5k budget for a family car and thats good on a track. Any guesses? (all cannot accomadate a dog, so thats the Avant out of the frame!) Hint: £2k would be enough for their choices!

if no dogs then that suggests they all went for saloons so no S2.... maybe a URs4/6? .... Merc E or C class, old M5 maybe?

Clarkson could have got a nice UrS4 for a fifth of what he paid for the Crapworth, then he'd have won easily.

I kept thinking I wanted another, but have now seen the light!
Apart from the cult following they have, they really are not all that when you start to look at performance and reliability

That ADAC truck was mental!!! I'd actually like to put my car through a check like that to find all the unseen faults.

If they find anything wrong bush wise after I've finished the current updates I'd be gutted

i'd want to score over 100 on that

Agreed on the URs4 though, would have done well on that ******* wet circuit too

exactly what i was thinking when watching, a urS4/6 would been perfect choice 155mph and 4wd with perfect reliability

                              S2's

Yes surprised never really give these cars coverage.
Even more surprising when Mr Clarkson gave it rave reviews in the original 'What Car' test with other "performers"!
