The Mrs has got a 1998 Toyota Corolla 1.3 5 door.

I'm not saying that i would have one but the damned thing never ever gives a moments bother and i do quite like that, sometimes i just wish the Audi wasn't so all consuming trying to keep it good.

The Toyota is of course 8 years younger but it cost peanuts (prob less than my annual tinkering budget) and doesn't ever go wrong, I don't get the impression it will over the next 8 years either.

Yes, I definitely relate to that- my wife has a an old mk5 Hilux that (touch wood) is the same- it sometimes makes me wish I'd fallen in love with a 4wd Toyota sports car instead of an obsession with obsolete Audis!!

Very reliable cars for sure........only problem I find with the Jap stuff is corrosion on brake, suspension and steering components when they get about 10 years old. Obviously depending on where the car is from plays a part.
