    2018 MOT - New rules

It has only recently been brought to my attention that many new rules are going to be applied to classic and modified cars from May of this year.
Can anyone in the know explain the implications of these, especially to highly modified vehicles?

The MOT test changed on 20 May 2018, with new defect types, stricter rules for diesel car emissions, and some vehicles over 40 years old becoming exempt.

Can't see anything to worry about to be honest

Apparently retro fit HID lights will fail. I have a HID kit on my Avant so don't think it will pass

They have always been a failure unless there is an auto alignment / leveling function fitted.

It has been always illegal to use HID kits on halogen lights.

Advice on using aftermarket HID headlamps and the legal way to convert vehicles to Xenon HID.
