Looking at buying a A6 All road for the wife. For horse and dog duties.

are there any users that can comment on how bad or good they are?

No belt on the later ones from memory, chain driven. Think it comes down to miles on the autobox and air suspension issues/cost if you need to change them but should be aftermarket options by niw and likely shared across the a4 allroad too

I have a Allroad for sale now, it's not 2010 it's a 2006.....and its got factory swivel away tow bar...No faults and just passed its MOT...full service history. Perfect if you want to keep costs down....less than 140,000...and clean & tidy throughout...

Just seen the text before, mines a 2.7tdi, gearbox oil changed, good on fuel, no cam belt, what more would anybody want, ohhhh
and tilt & opening Sun roof.
its only going because I bought an S2 to replace it.

Hi have a 2008 A6 3.0TDI with a manual box, the only issue we've had is that it shredded an Aux belt and the fuel tank sender (left side) packed up. Other than that, great car, manual box is a peach and economy on a run is pretty amazing given the size of the thing, 6.8lts/100kms. It's done 183K (kms) now, I change the oil every year come what may, it loves tyres although Good Year Eagle F1's seem to be the best I've found and we're getting around 30k (kms from a set), summer only.

I would vouch for the C7 based 3.0TDi - from 2011 onwards - I haven't towed with it yet, but its a very capable wagon. That engine comes in 3 tunes that I know of and has huge torque - pretty economical too. If you get a flappy-paddle DSG then make absolute certain its had the S-Tronic oil changes done at the right time (every 40k miles). We still have the C5 allroad too - a lot less luxurious but actually has a lot more character about it in a funny way - they would be a very risky purchase unless you had lots of history - they have a penchant for air spring leaks (or explosions) and its a LOT heavier on diesel obvs.
