    Clutch slave cyl

Well I finally retired and thought about the list of jobs to do on my S2 first and foremost a leaky clutch slave cylinder taking it off was easy peasy putting it back a different matter I removed the gear linkage then disconnected the steering arms from the rack it gave more a fair bit of access ,I removed the old slave cylinder it was leaking past the seal ,then the fun began when I fitted the new cylinder I managed to get it located on the little support bit on the gearbox casing when I put the locating bolt in the cylinder shot off under its internal spring pressure when I went again to relocate into the gearbox a bit was missing the pushrod ,it was in the bell housing xxxxxxxxxxxxx after much swearing the terrible thought hit me THE GEAR BOX HAS TO COME OUT.I have no pit only a drive way so on Saturday the 23 rd my brother in law set too we managed to slide the box back enough to find the offending pushrod how and what we had to take off to accomplish this is monumental suffice to say the box slide back in but not before the slave cylinder and pushrod where bolted up ,it's now just to put back together along with other jobs I have planned for the summer.Derek retired hgv and pcv fitter

Sometimes we got to think out of the box...

get your slave cylinder, unscrew the beeding screw, push the rod all way in, close tight the bleeding screw, rod will stay retracted due to vacuum.
Place and fit the slave cylinder now it's far better, once fitted unscrew the bleeder.

Wow. At least you managed to get the slave cylinder out. Mine is stuck fast and won’t budge.
