  • Buying a car in Germany

I am looking at buying two cars in Germany soon and wanted to know what the process is to buy then bring them back with me to the UK if anyone has done this as I doubt it is as simple as the UK is when you just turn up, pay for the car and sign the v5 and drive off into the sunset.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked out the Gov.UK website? All info should be there.

If you're paying cash and travelling with a large amount you'll need to declare it at airport customs.

    More importantly.....what you buying !!

I'll have a look at that site. Both cars are not a large amount but qualify for the 25 year rule so would only be getting exported from the UK straight away. They are just a couple of old fords unless a type 85 coupe quattro comes up at a good price as well.

If you plan on driving, you need transit plates. Check out opening hours and day, at smaller places they might not be open everyday.
