Well I suppose its caught up to me!! Am hoping someone can point me in the right direction for the above and preferably in the North East please?!

I sorted the paint work out with a complete paint job in October 2020 and now the list of jobs for this year:

    Roof lining (alcantara)
    Head light refurb (chrome metal)
    alloys refurb

      Anthony, hope you're well.

If you can remove the headcloth yourself and strip off the old material (and foam and glue!!) then this would keep the cost down?

Have you heard of this lot?....... Kish Trim - Suppliers of OEM and Custom Interiors, Automotive, Aviation, Marine, Commercial & convertible roof specialists.

Do you know the condition of the underside? if your just going to spray waxoil/underseal over the rust I would not bother. Tractor Dave and I have had a nightmare with removing underseal on our S2's that someone has sprayed over the underside in a vain hope to stop the rust but I feel it's just made it worse trapping the water/moisture between the underseal and the body of the car. Also while they were there also decided to cover the fuel lines, brake lines, subframe, diff, heat shield the list goes on. If you what to preserve the car you really need to strip the underside find all the rust and remove it. Then reapply paints, sealants and finally waxoil/underseal you want to apply. Also fix any other problems that you find like warn bushes & seals etc.

I was also looking for similar company in the north east to do headlight restoration but never found any. There are plenty of good alloys wheel refurbishing companies, but I've used SEM based in Sunderland a couple of times and always had good results. For material have a look at these guy's Audi Seat Cloth - Martrim Car Trimming Supplies, then you will just need to find a local trimer to fit it.

          Hi Anthony,

I can echo the comment from B5NUT. The factory under seal does a wonderful job once split by holding water/ condensation resulting in rust creep and heavy corrosion if not addressed. I’ve gone back to bare metal on my Coupe after chasing and replacing a crusty section of steel around the rear exhaust hanger bracket and back panel. These cars are pushing 25yrs of age and the factory applied sealer will be showing signs of age. I’d take a good look at the underside before applying an sealer as you may just be masking over any problems. The North East air isn’t too kind on our cars. Two pictures to showcase the underside of my S2 prior to being stripped back and taken care of.

Reference headlight refurb. If you have no luck in the UK. Look for this guy Grishs on Facebook. He specialises in headlight restoration.

The seat repair guy based in Guisborough is another option for your headlining. Though his company name pertains to seats. He does all types of reupholstery. I’ve used him in the past with good results.

          Hope this helps.

good evening sunshine, yeah not dead but as coincidence may have it I to am after a headliner person. Ian Bazburn has put me to a guy in South Shields (Chris Conley) he did his SQ. I've already had some samples of alcantara sent up this way (most people will send samples, ukhide.co.uk are a good bunch) Hope that helps....

Thanks guys for the tips. Appreciate all the help The lad that did my paint is sorting the underneath out and will strip right down so I know job will be done correctly. He also said headlining is something he can sort so that’s an added bonus.
