    ABY coils

Guys I could do with a shove in the right direction please. Just had my S2 in for its annual service and needed a few bits done which they have, but there was a slight issue before the service that the car was hesitating just on accelerating and easy driving. It’s not as bad now as spark plugs and fuel filter etc have been replaced but it’s still there. Are the coils still available and where from seen a few on eBay but just want to check where others have got them from please.

A good time to buy the harness from Alex and do the conversion.
If you really want to keep it OE, I have a working set.

As Dave mentioned, it's most certainly worth doing the coil conversion

Ok if I went the route of doing the conversion what’s kind of involved and required please?

Are original coils available anywhere please?

        Thanks

The conversion is very easy. Plug and play basically. Get good quality coil packs though. I think Alex does the Beru ones as well.

Hi Ant, I have recently done this and when with AutoDoc and the Beru OEM coils. My mentality is I want my car 100% OEM if possible to keep as much value in the car as I can. I think they were £420 all in, which is way more expensive that the modern upgrade but worth it IMO. You do have to "splice" them into the existing loom and I bought heatgun "solder joints" specifically for this purpose. With some care you can splice into the loom and make it look factory in a couple of hours. (I also bought some new Heat proof tubing from Alex to replace at the same time)

Let me know if you need any further info...

Are Beru the ones to go for or do you think there is a better one?

You could go to Audi and buy R8 ones if you really want to push the boat out

So slight update on the situation. Took the S2 for a nice drive on Saturday and it behaved pretty well a couple of little hiccups but nothing major. Went for a little blast up to Kielder on Sunday put the usual v power in with a bottle of redex and the S2 behaved perfectly. No hesitation at all. So my thoughts now are it may have been a clogged up fuel filter as this was replaced along with with the spark plugs. So it’s all good
