As I'm sat at home ill and a little bored here's a load of pictures, which I know you all like, of a 3B head. Full strip and rebuild in an attempt at being in order but they may not be 100%. I can a will do a full write up of what's involved this evening as I'm doing this on my phone which is best irritating. Will also as give some tips on how I go about this job. Though if you have any questions or your own tips do fire away...
The head came off my Nothelle conversion done by Brian Rickets in 1993, that's 30 years ago so new stem seals were in order as well as a good clean, decoke and valve relap. I got all the vavles so the combustion chambers all held meths for an hour or so while I had a well earned cup of tea.
However, I was pushed for time and the job was more important than photos. And after getting 40 collets back in place using a couple of picks and grease I really needed a quick break! One can't use a magnet for getting the little ******s back in unlike removing them as it sticks to every other steel component. It quite a fiddly task!
