I have a VR6 in my coupe quattro but I wouldn't yet qualify it as "powered" haha.

For me personally I am using an electric TRW PAS pump mounted in the boot.

    What was your question though?

    Regards

    Jase.

Oh okay. I wanted to ask if somone else has tried using a golf pump to work with the factory rack as i have.
I've had a braided line made up from pas pump to rack but i'm told this will be an issue as the factory hose is made from a special material that dampens oscillations.

I can't comment directly but I have used "modern" pumps on older racks with no issues in the past.

1.8t into MK2 golfs for example. Never noticed any ill effects with those.

Do you have a build thread?

        Regards

        Jase.

You should be okay if you're running the VR6 PAS pump into an S2 rack, they don't require a special rack input hose unlike the super high pressure S2 Tandem pumps.

I'll have another go at weekend, but im told by Alex that the factory line from pas pump to steering rack is a "proprietary type, which damps the pressure oscillations" If you use a standard hydraulic hose, you get the pas whine.

Do you mean the factory VR6 hose or the S2 hose?

But you will be using the pump on the VR?

The damper you're talking about is possibly on the hydraulic brake assist side of the equation.

Also, you could just use an extension to your hose with the damper in it, to get it to meet up with the new PAS pump, thereby retaining the damper and making it fit.

I was thinking something along the lines of that.
However I may go down the road of astra electric pump instead
