Ur quattro (rr) specialist in Lancashire area?

    Hi.
Does anyone know of a specialist, who goes mobile, in the Lancashire area?

My 20v ur has running (lack of) issues.

After a breakdown on the motorway several months ago - running really rough, I’ve changed plugs, completely drained fuel and new filter, cleaned up AFM (not faulting).

Had it running on tick over, then, when under a slight load, stalled and wouldn’t start again.

limited diagnostics pointed to g62 sensor - changed that to no avail.

i haven’t checked my injectiors yet…..and still need to try a few more things.

But, willing to engage someone who really knows their stuff.

The experts I know are far away - Yeovil, Hillingdon, etc.

Theres a mobile ur guy, but, he doesn’t touch 20Vs.

    Thanks in advance.

I would be looking at fuel pump also OR crap in the tank getting sucked up into the tank filter under load

I did empty the tank completely, to eliminate poor fuel, and changed filter too. Maybe something has got into the exit of the tank. I work away and have busy home commitments, so, unfortunately the car always seems to be bottom of the list. I’m hoping for a full day on her next week. Can’t wait to have it running properly for this lovely weather

On many Audis as well as the external fuel filter, there is a filter inside the tank and crap in the tank can get sucked onto that. If that is the case often you cannot do anything about it other than tank replace or rebuild. If the car stood a while and/or ran nearly empty it could be this. Check the fuel pump first though.

B2's have an external pump and filter under the car as well as an accumulator in the case of K-jet car's though I don't know if the RR engine stills use one... The system is gravity feed from the tank on the rear bulk head in the boot, there is a course strainer on the on the outlet but these very rarely clog up unlike the the fine ones inside B3 Coupe fuel tanks.

However the symptoms of rough running followed by failure to start does very much sound like a dying, now dead fuel pump. It would be the first thing I'd check along with it's fuse which may have popped if the pumped has indeed died.

I suppose it makes sense there’s a strainer inside the tank.
Anyway, I’ll focus on the pump for now.
The Original snag was that 30 mile into a 50 mile motorway run, with half a tank of recent 99 fuel, the car started vibrating.
A quick exit off motorway, shut down, restart, to no avail.
piggy backed home and put in garage until time allowed for investigation.
New plugs, the car ticked over (but it might have with old plugs anyway?), then, shutdown and it didn’t want to restart (turned over but didn’t catch).
Then I went for fuel drain and new filter . Car fired up ok once fuel got through, but, when slight load put on, to reverse out of garage, it didn’t like it.

After that, car barely wanted to catch, very rough and irratic.

Fault tester snagged g62 coolant sensor - replaced , didn’t start, still snagged it (possibly damaged wires there), but, I don’t think this is my main issue.

i guess a failing pump could be the problem still.

Haven’t got equipment to test fuel pressure.

Will continue with investigation……unless I can get someone in to help.

Normally you would remove the inlet manifold to get good access to the distributor.
