I’m new to the forum but in desperate need of help

I have an Audi s2 avant (aby) and haven’t used it in a while so recommissioned it recently and was fine but then developed a slight misfire when under hard acceleration.

drives perfectly just cruising about but as mentioned under hard acceleration it’s like misfires.

So thought I’d take it for a longer drive but started misfiring again with old plugs in and engine fully cut out and wouldn’t fire up again.

battery is a few months old and cranks over very well.

got recovered home.

today tried new plugs and still has good spark, battery is over 12v and car cranks over well like normal.

but still no luck firing up.

so far I’ve ordered a brand new fuel pump and a new fuel pump relay so hopefully that could fix the issue.

any other ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thanks I’ve had a quick scan through but I honestly don’t know what I’m looking for. By the sounds of things it could be a variety of things that could be the issue.

Its difficult to diagnose a problem remotely with just a misfire and then a non start. The most common non start on these cars is the cam position sensor. You can easily test the fuel pump and relay if you follow the guide. To test the cam position sensor you need to rig up an led bulb to it and crank the engine.

I would expect you need to change coil packs or the booster. I had similar issues and converted to the more modern red top coils and got a wiring loom from Error404 and I have had no issues since.

Cam position sensor caught me out, drove lovely to the shops parked up popped in came out wouldn't start coil pack conversion is a great way to go

Got the car sorted and was a faulty fuel pump
