Topic Area Warming Party! *We Moved! :D*

Welcome, Welcome!! New Open Topic Area! *bustles around dusting and placing beloved S2 pics on the fireplace*

    *Pops the cork* Let's Party!!

Ahem, on a serious note, Special Thanks to Paul for creating a "fun space" on the Forum. *snuggles into bean bag* It's nice and cosy here too!

Hey, I had a thought. You lot inspire me. Sooo I need your help! I'm going to write a short story all about Audi S2s and racing.

I would appreciate some people to tell me a few random facts about Audi cars. "The feel" "The parts" I want to write about the "passion" of these cars.

    *spins around in crazy circles*

Nice idea - There was a racing series in Germany with the S2 - I think it was something like the ADAC which ran one or two levels below full blown DTM - you can start searching from there. People like SMS (Schmidt Motorsport) ran a car or few, but I've never had time to find much about them. I seem to recall that expertise from SMS was called upon by Audi when creating the S2 - dunno where I read that.

Oh and just to clarify - this is the new OPEN-Topic area for things of a vaguely Audi/Automotive nature - like the short historical paper that Daisfunky has suggested.

PLEASE keep anything OFF-Topic out of this area and firmly in the OFF-Topic area - that is the 'fun-space' - allegedly !

Cullam3n that's okay hun, it's the thought that counts right?

Oh and that's rather cool about the miles. 221122 that'll be going in the story for sure...

Paul: Thanks, I'll do some research. Oooh so there's an Off Topic and a New Open Topic area. Okay. Got it.

Okay in order to help me, will you all please answer these questions:

          1. Can you name all the parts under the bonnet?
          2. Describe your "My first S2 and It's love" experience

1 - I don't see where you are going with that - we have most of the same parts of any turbocharged engine. My own website does a reasonable job at explaining how the engine, its sensors and brain do their thing.

2 - Not sure where that is taking you either... I prefer the idea of researching the racing history.

Maintain focus - stay on target - use the force - etc etc

I'm an author! My inspiration needs no explanation.

My questions are valuable and I'm going to write about the experience of racing an Audi S2.

"The Driver wiped his sweaty brow before easing the tight helmet on his head. He clicked the steering wheel in place and started the ignition...the driver's hands tingled with anticipation at the vibrations of the car..."

You know, that sort of thing. A history of Audi cars/racers could be my next project.

Well alright - I'll get my coat - if the result is somewhat based on historical facts then fantastic.

                      1. I could name all the parts under the bonnet but I am trying to keep it shut as when I open it I generally upgrade something and that costs money.

                      2. My first s2 is the one I have now and its love is cold hard cash and lots of it the more the merrier.

After having a spirited run through some country roads, I let the V6 engine purr down to the red light. I gave it's usual thrashing, letting it know I was in charge and that the big lazy chariot was at my command.

However, tonight was something special. In the lane beside, my behemoth of an engine caught something of interest. It's eye gleamed as it looked over; the front grill snearing. It was hungry, thirsting for something to really make it stretch it's legs. Not more than an arm's length away was the black sheep brother who was exiled and disowned from the royal family; the monstrosity of a relative, the S2.

The S2, recognizing it's sibing from years long past, wondered if it was fate that had brought them together. Just like old times: him, the light, and the pride of his family he had purposely forgotten, the 80. Gone was the 80's modest but slightly aggressive personality. As the driver, I could tame the beast no longer. The v6 moved it's right pedal with such force, the friction from the rubber singed a hole through the cheap carpet his parents decided to bless him with. It was angry, but no! Angry would be an understatement, as it was furious, seething through the four rings in the frontfront and barking all six cylinders with such a force that nearby trees were swaying toward the car as the autumn leaves were hopelessly slipstreamed toward the intake box underneath the passenger side headlight.

The inline 5, more than anything, hated to be outdone by his younger brother. Always more popular than he was, always more popular with the parents. He loathed how he was loved, and why was he the one that no one ever knew. The 2.2T sat there quietly, in awe of the moment. And then it opened it's mouth, but only said one word, and one word only, "Psssssh."

Both with an anxiousity more than Madonna felt when she kissed Britney Spears, they stared intently at the traffic light, with it's paint peeling and faded glass windows. It was a lonely one, who never had any company; he spent his time just quitely rocking back and forth in the wind.

But now it was time. One final look between each of the blood related tribe. The S2, after having journeyed across the world, had been in a depressed stupor until he arrived onto the island of Dialynx, where he met many a creature like himself. He perfected his launch technique with a rigor and attitude that was an extension of his anatomy. It felt so natural. He held himself at the magic number, the 5083rpm mark, +-5 of course. With his tar sticky BFGoodrich Potenza's just warmed up by some spirited soaring of the mountains earlier, he could feel the hot oil tingling every single one of his senses. He shivered across his engine mounts as the sky blue coolant passed through his body, like the people who drink Gatorade on commericals but somehow it misses their mouth completely.

But this 80 was not sitting quietly. The normal carelessly attitude was forgotten for a more harsh, more unforgiving, more raw manner. It lost to his big brother once, and he could not remotely bear the idea of losing to it once more.

The lonely light could feel the tension between these two. He was waiting for them to meet for a long, long time. For he was the only one who could control his devil of a friend, Gatso, who lived across the street. Gatso was always a peeping tom. He was in everyone's business much more than even himself. But he listened to the stoplight, as Gatso owed him quite a few favors. He decided to turn his attention to the college car wash across the street.

After a short delay, the traffic signal whispers, "It's time." And what he was waiting decades to do, he had the chance he anticipated would be his last.

                        He turned himself green.

I think the S2 Forum is going to be up for the "Creative Writing & Poetry" award next year

It's like one of those childhood memories, thinking of "my first time" in the S2...
