I'm currently saving for a faster Audi. Not sure if it will be an S4, an 00/01 RS4 or even an S5 (If I can wait that long).

The trouble is I currently have the money sitting in my account and I'm thinking if I want more power why not just spend it on the S2. I've alway enjoyed wolves in sheep's clothing so a powerful S2 might be nice?

Therefore, can someone please advise me, if I did all the work, how much bhp would you get per grand? eg.

    £2000 = 300 bhp
    £3000 = 350 bhp
    £4000 = 400 bhp
    etc

I'm also interested in driveability. I don't want a car that will only pull above 4000rpm for example. Is this possible if you want 400 bhp from a 2.2ltr engine?

It is possible to have a 400hp S2 that kicks in before 4000rpm, may be about 3600rpm though. can get a good compromise at about 330-350hp with relatively low lag though. Price wise the difference between 350 and 400 prob isnt quite that much, but it depends on how refined its gonna be.

well, getting the GT3071R with 64 hotside, provided that you have a good remap, you will get full boost at 3600-3800rpm,and by full boost i mean up to 2bar(depending on remap).
Other parts you need for that project are:
      1)RS2 EM(or better)
2)oil-water lines(available in several places,or you can make your own,by using existing lines)
3)RS2 njectors or orange/green bigger ones
      4)Bosch motorsport fuel pump
      5)RS2 intercooler or better
      6)rods(scat are a good cheap option)---->not a necessity but a precaution
7)Piston rings at least(for having a good compression) OR new ones in case of rebore
      8)Possible cylinder head service.
      9)Remap
      10)Of course the turbo!!!

With those parts you can end up with a good 400+figure.As for prices i would guess around...5000euro for parts(remap included) or 5500 if scat rods are also included.

        Cheers Guys.

At what rpm does a 330-350 bhp S2 start to kick in then and what would this cost? I can imagine its a:

        New Turbo
        New Intercooler
        Re-map
        New rods?
        ?????

It can kick in pretty much where-ever you want if you match all the parts properly (and most importantly, choose the turbo spec carefully), and get it mapped by someone who really knows what they are doing

Im looking into similar bigger Turbo options at the mo, i'd be happy with around 320bhp ish'

Currently running pretty much standard apart from Homefry and 2.5" Longlife (coming off soon in favour of 3" system). Going in for cambelt and high compression headgasket in 2 weeks so will be replacing Turbo hoses with Samcos as well.

Any advice on most cost effective way of getting to 320ish???

RS2 sounds like a possibility for you or you could get a custom build maybe.
                RS2 saloon?
                S2 saloon?
S2 Avant with stroker (awesome street sleeper)?
                Audi 90 with S2 spec?
PM me if any of these ideas interest you and I'l point you in the right direction.
                I would personally go for RS4 or S6 (97>).

Go for Quattronics/Roose, they are much better quality
Quicker delivery on special order colours, and better choice of colours too come to think of it!

Thanx - already had the blue Samco boosts thru yesterday tho from a certain Greek gentleman who posted earlier in this thread. 4 days door to door from Greece to UK,thats gotta be a record!

I can pick up a new RS2 K24/7200 Turbo from contact in Germany for £650.00 inc delivery to UK, would this be a wise £650.00 u reckon??

£650 is an ok price for a brand new genuine RS2 turbo.

Yeah that sounds reasonable price for the turbo.

The rs2 spec will ammuse most people and there is the possibility of having it remapped to around the 360 ish mark from what i've seen but it all depends are you going to be happy with that or just want more?

I thought about rs2 but thought i'd just be better going slightly higher.

And remember one main thing that most people don't take into consideration is the brakes and suspension. I'd not like to try stop 300+ bhp on standard brakes.

Ask them if the rs2 unit has a 360 degree thrust bearing, if it's not get one

Im certainly no expert on the Turbos, whats this about the 360 Thrust bearing version?
