Audi A3 1.8T

My sisters been offered a Audi A3 1998 1.8T... miles are 135k with full Audi history... brother in law drove it seems to run nicely... pulls well etc. Anything to look out for on these? I know some on here have Golfs with the same engine... any hints or tips are welcomed... whats it worth do the masses think roughly (ball park???) She was told to make a sensible offer

Bet these have the same plastic window clips in Alan Best watch out for those
And two cam belts think its every 60k with the 1.8T's

Yep apparently its only £60 for a repair kit if the flimsy piece of plastic they fit at the factory snaps and leaves you with your window dropped down at the bottom of your door (so im told ) or £0.85 if your a bit clever (but have 2 hours free) Anyone else ???

I know they had some problems with the turbo oil feed line. Was to small and starving turbo from oil.
Audi has change this lines. Check if really they change those.

hi. at that sort of mileage make sure the rear bushes have been changed. most a3 1.8ts have been thrashed, u will hear the banging from the back even if u went over a leaf!! also coils is a common issue on them check for hesitation/or misfire on idle and over 3krpm.

Just went and had a quick look at it but owner not there and had keys in her handbag so no test drive looks nice and straight in a bright bluey/turqoise metalic should clean up nicely... sister says they ummed and arrd about what to offer the owner and asked them for a price and they want £2500 for it. Any thoughts on that one anyone?

Hi re price, going by autotrader prices ect,on that year and mileage I'd say£2.500 is around garage/trade price.
I'd say around £2k or less depending on what's been done to the car or indeed needs to be done to get it in tiptop order, difficult to say without seeing/driving the car.
