Lads, anybody got any idea the cheapest way to send a rear bumper to the states? I've been trying to get a reasonable price but it's coming back at about 200 quid. It's at the back of my garage just now so i'm guessing 2m x 50cm x 30cm and 10kg. Something to do with volumetric weight. I haven't done this before so I just don't get it. any ideas?
cheers

that's who said £200 based on my guessed dimesnions and weight.
thing is, that's calculating it as a box (it came back and said the volumetric weight would be 50kg. I don't understand what that means)

put it as 180cm long, as that makes it under their max length, and once the website is up, you an keep changing the quote and making the numbers smaller and smaller until they give a sensible price.... you'll see what I mean.... This is what I did with your wheels...

Im pretty sure audibits has sent them to the states before,in the questions down the bottom of his auctions i seem to remember someone asking how much to send and he replied something like £85,i think he uses DHL normally which is quite likely booked through parcels2go as if you go onto dhl website and get a price on there its about double price normally which is mad.

cheers spink - I was sure i'd seen something like that. I'll ask him
Chris - you're onto something there. Maybe If I fashion a giant insole out of a matress I can show the driver if he doubts my word as a gentleman? hehe

Seriously, I also sent an A6 front bumper, which is bigger....
I measured it closely and then kept knocking of a couple of centimetres until it was a sensible quote, they didnt question it, as it was still a big parcel... I bubble wrapped it big time and brown paper.... a box would make it huge....! But I wasnt sendng to the US....
Good luck....

Oh, and I reckon you will be less than 10Kg too, the back one is not very heavy....
