    Insurance Renewal Today Thread..

    Ok,

Car insurance renewal came through in post from Adrian Flux with the following:

Myself (30) & Partner (24) on the policy...

    Fully Comp
    £350 Excess
    9 Years Protected No Claims
    Locked Garage Overnight
    Cat 1 Alarm System
    Legal Cover

    £850!!!!!!!!!!

Got ont'net and found several cheaper quotes, one being Admiral for £388 & as above. Just under £500 cheaper. Called Mr.Flux who has a "Find a cheaper deal & we''ll beat it guaranteed". Great I thought. Mr.Flux logged into my quote on Admiral website & called me back to say "Hmmm, they have hammered us there". He then spoke to his boss who gave me the policy as above for a straight £380. :mischeif:

Exactly, it must be all about profit.. If I just signed up they would have gained nearly £500 more from me.. God only knows how many don't shop about and just sign up for another year..

Having said that £196 will be hard beaten

It doesn't pay to be loyal these days. My renewal always seems expensive. Ask the same company for a quote as a new customer and it is usually a lot cheaper. I think they just hope you'll take the easy/lazy option, sign that renewal form and pay whatever they say.

I con core, when i turned 21 the AA wanted £1200 and admiral only £600

The area i live in is in the mists of no where, posh, quite and the car has its own garage when there is space if not its behind a locked gate

Greenlight are much better and offer a similar policy to HIC with track cover and insured like-for-like modifications. I paid £570, 25 + parents, 7 years NCB...

I've had cars with Fluxy for years inc 911's,M5's and all sorts of other group 18-20 cars.

I had a £700.00 odd quote for them for the S2, called Admiral and got it fully comp for about £300.00 ish on a multi-car policy. Fluxy couldnt touch it on their "we'll match any quote" b*ll*****..

Admiral breakdown cover is expensive tho, about £85.00 if i remember correctly. Also, will shortly be telling them of a few mods so that should bge interesting..

There's an article on Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert website that points out that right now is about the cheapest time to re-insure your car policy. He even suggests cancelling mid term and re-insuring as still may save some £££......

"Cheapest Car Insurance. Save £100s now, even if you’re not at renewal. New Article
Car insurance prices drop at the end of the year, as there’s little demand. Even if you’re not at your renewal, provided you’ve not claimed, many insurers will give a pro-rata refund if you cancel; so you can still switch and save. As the comparison services all cover different insurers, this new analysis devises the perfect combination, giving the widest comparison in the shortest time. Follow this order, and do as many as you can, Moneys’market*, Confused*, compareTM*, Tesco Comp, Uswitch* and Gocompare*; even doing them all shouldn’t take more than 20 mins. Yet, you can go further, using additional techniques in the article, some get insurance for under £100/year.
