I have been reading this thread closely and finally I think I need to say something. Not out of feeling superior or "all-knowing" but I want to just share my thoughts.
When I read Paul's post, I didn't quite interpret it like you did Dest. Paul says that the thread was viewable to anyone - whether they are a member or not - so that says to me that he was saying "Look mate, It's not you I don't trust, it's the Tom, **** and Harry who are looking at the thread that I don't trust!" You know?
Maybe a suggested comprimise could be to make the thread only viewable to the forum members?
I think a register is a great Idea Dest and I don't dispute any of your comments. I just wanted to add another viewpoint to the scenario.Comment

No one was ever asked or told to post their registration on this thread anyway, so how is it damaging that any Tom, **** or Harry could read it?
Yes, a couple of people did post them, but they could of easily been removed, and in future anyone that posted theirs could be asked to do the same
EDIT: LOL @ d*ck being on the swear filter

Fair point Dest. If people want to post their reg. plates on the forum and in the public eye and risk theft and all that jazz - well, it's only their own stupidity to blame.
Still, Paul's word goes on this forum. We must respect that. Besides, he's got his heart in the right place and he's only doing it for the safety of those people on this forum. Awww.
I felt so naughty being censored!
I never thought about it when I typed D*ck, I meant the name.

Well - there is a similarity in the concept of course, but that thread doesn't have people posting their reg numbers which is what alarmed me.
The idea didnt exactly set the world alight either...
Its not like 'my word goes' here - its not a dictatorship - just asking for common sense and tryin to protect folk from those of evil intent that might be looking at this forum.

I didnt ask them to either? All that was needed was for you or to ask the poster to remove them, and not to put them on the thread and only PM me.
Firstly, I got many PM's with entries, of which you wouldnt of seen, of which some stated it was a great idea. The idea didnt exactly set the world alight either...
Secondly, it didnt exactly have much of a chance to be successful did it due to being removed within 24 hours?!
Thats all I asked for too, and have explained that there really is no issue if details are not posted on the forum. I hope using your common sense that you can see this too.just asking for common sense and tryin to protect folk from those of evil intent that might be looking at this forum.
Would it be possible to have a clear answer as to whether you are going to allow this or not?Comment

If people want to send you their number plates and car info for you to create a register - its up to them. I cant stop that, but I will frown upon any posts were people post such info on the forum.
Don't get me wrong - I'm NOT against the idea here. Just ask that privacy issues be considered and I do realise you didn't ask that poeple post info publicly.
Go ahead and post it up again if you like, making sure you ask that info only be sent to you privately. You may also wish to give users some assurance on how this data will be used and how (and with whom) it will be shared... And assuming you may not own an S2 forever - how you plan to transition ownership on any data onto some other trusted individual - such as a mod or admin on this place.

Nuvo touched upon the subject though.I think it's a great idea, although you'll probably the field for vehicle registration numbers will be under used for obvious reasons.
My guess would be that it wasn't deleted because no one posted their reg. plate nos on there. *shrugs* and it wasn't as popular....it soon fizzled out.Comment
