I'm reserving judgement until I've seen some installed - but I don't think they look too bad.

I've just bought a set of the matt black ones. Laugh away
Mad? maybe, but I've done this to see what the quality is like for some of the users of audifans.net
A set of OEM ellipsoids don't leave much change from £300/£350 and that's a bit rich for some of the guys who want to rid themselves of the even worse and truely crap reflector headlamps.
I'm talking of non S2 owners here. Could be fitted to B3 80, 90's and pre-facelift Coupes with a bit of tinkering in the grille area (extending it) Direct fit to B4 80 V6 saloon and Avant, Post-facelift Coupe and all Cabriolets.
It's not the angel eye rubbish we are interested in, it's the projector part and the ease of HID'ing them without blinding everyone.
I'm quite happy with my standard fitment ellipsoids and HID's.

These cost me £149 shipped. (Not from the above ebay place)
If they are pants quality wise, I'll absorb the cost and nick the projector unit out to use in a little something I've been meaning to try on a spare set of ellipsoids I have.
E-marked, TUV approved and made in germany, how bad can they be?

You don't know until you try

In my head I have a feeling that the non chrome ones will look ok on the car.
What puts me off is the eyebrow's on them, Im guessing they light up similar to the newer Audi's?
I suppose you could mod the wiring if it looked crap... be interested to see how they look, as in the Cavalier world I was in before I got the S2, I saw quite afew cars with similar lights added, and they turned out pretty good TBH

The whiteish line you see above the round light apertures, isn't an eyebrow (not sure if thats what you mean Dest?), it's an indicator strip.
These were designed to fit all B4 model cars. Ok, we have our indicators in the front bumper, same as the cabriolet lads and the guys with B4 80 V6 saloons and avants.
But what about the B4 80 owners who have the four cylinder engines? they have a square headlamp and an indicator next to it, roughly where out sidelight is. They'd have had to have changed a bumper so as to get the indicators relocated. With these, they don't have to do that.
Obviously if it was to fit into a model with indicators in the front bumper, you'd just leave the indicator strip inside the lamp disconnected (not that you'd have a connector spare anyway)
Again, just leave the circuit to the angel eye bits not connected, unless you really wanted them that is. My guess is that the angel eye part will be wired into the sidelight circuit.

Take the orange bulbs/LED's (dunno yet) out and replace with white ones, hook up to a dedicated feed and a switch, and you've got daytime running lights a la R8/S6 etc.

Hmmm, my guess would be that the one on the outside is the indicator, and the "eyebrow" is the sidelights, thus copying the day running lights.
If that is the case, its even better as we just ignore the indicators on them!

                              Edit:
Thinking about it, if you had the eyebrows as day running lights, that could defeat the original idea of having angel eyes?!
